Satikanta Guha (1st June 1910 – 8th January 1991)
Satikanta Guha was a ‘super achiever’, for what he, with his wife Prity Lata, accomplished within a few years, touched and shaped the lives of many and of multiple generations, and still does in a way that only those affected know and unhesitatingly acknowledge. This single achievement – South Point – has now become a ‘legend’, and its founder, had he done nothing else in his life, would still be remembered for his vision and the effect South Point had on the then prevalent educational system.
The Guinness Book of World Records recognized South Point as the largest school in the world in terms of the number of students enrolled for an entire academic year; its students have left their mark in every sphere of human activity – be it the fine arts, academics, or sports – and many continue to do so. What is often not recognized is that at the root of it all was his vision – ‘Courage to Know’.
