Firingi Kali comes in a hand-crafted wooden box with brass accents. Inside, are six bottles with fascinating shades of inks, supposedly developed in the mid-1930s for use by a European lady, an artist, who was a close friend of the ladies of the Maitra family and often joined them, as they made the first batches of Sulekha inks.
Limited to 200 sets initially, the box will come with a complementary notebook detailing the story behind the creation of these inks. The box, glass bottles, ink formulations, and notebook have all been specially crafted following time-bound traditions and are meant to be an ode to those glory days in the 1930s…
The six shades of Firingi Kali that have been boxed so elegantly are:
- Pale Red (signifying “Mayer Paye” or at Her feet),
- Light Orange (signifying “Bhakti” or Faith),
- Grey (signifying “Sandhya Pujo” or Evening Prayers),
- Sacred Green (signifying “Bel Pata” or special leaves that are used during prayer),
- Karmic Brown (signifying “Choron Dhuli” or Blessings) and
- Lavender (signifying Sugondhi Ashirbad or Sacred Aroma).
